Hi there, I am hoping someone may be able to help - I would like to re-gear an old (probably bought more than 15 years ago!) N scale Con-Cor SD40-2(I believe this was manufactured by Rivarossi) that runs erratically due to poorly fitting worm and driving gears - any ideas on where I might look for replacement parts, even if I have to do some slight modifications?

I would contact Con-Cor and see if they have the gears.
Or better…
Retire that SD40-2 and replace it with a Kato SD40-2.
Thanks - I think that is going to be a whole lot easier than mucking about with this old thing! Con Cor haven’t been able to help so far…the loco is just too old…

Con-Cor’s offices and warehouse is in a small industrial park in Tucson, Arizona. Their products have been made by many different sources over the years, and they do not stock repair parts for anything over one or two years old.
Comletely gut the shell and put a new mechanisim in from another engine. just make sure that you keep the parts as spares or as a way to restore the model.
