New Hampshire & Vermont RR: are it and others dead or still going?

does anyone know if shortlines like New Hampshire & Vermont, Twin States, New Hampshire Central, Iowa Traction, and Central Montana Rail are still operatiing or have they bit the dust?

New Hampshire & Vermont and Twin States were owned by Clyde Forbes. Under his ownership traffic withered and both lines ceased operation. Some portions of the New Hampshire and Vermont were taken up (Whitefield, I belive to Berlin was removed, as was Woodsville to Littleton). The state of New Hampshire bought the remainder of the NH&VT and Twin States that are within it’s borders and that is now operated by the New Hampshire Central.

There is an effort underway to have the state of Vermont purchase the dormant Vermont portion of the Twin States which would then be operated by the Vermont Rail System. The state decided not to proceed when a paper mill, the major on-line traffic source, shut down. However there is quite a bit of overhead traffic potential and the Vermont Rail System wants to proceed anyway and the matter remains under discussion. Potential traffc includes rock salt, wood chips, logs, limestone slurry for paper mills.
