did the newhaven run emd F3’s?
No - they did have FL9s: a dual power locomotive.
Hope this helps
work safe
ConnDOT also picked up a pair of Port Authority Transit (Pittsburgh) F7A’s for the Shore Line East service and painted them in NH McGinnis colors.
The FL9s were the only EMD cab units New Haven had.I think the only other EMD road units were GP9s.they did have EMD switchers, though.
New Haven was definitely not a very good EMD customer. This is what I have for EMD products on the roster:
20 SW1200 (640-659) - equipped with Flexicoil trucks
30 GP9 (1200-1229) - steam generator equipped
60 FL9 (2000-2059)
The New Haven didn’t in real life, but back in the 50’s, Lionel came out with a model of their F3 diesel in NH colours. Since then, other model train manufacturers have made F units in NH paint schemes. Perhaps the reason you are asking this you have a NH F3 model. Model train companies have produced lots of trains over the years that wear the paint schemes of companies that never owned them. For example, did you know that at least half the model trains lettered for the Santa Fe were never actually owned by that road?
For instance,Santa Fe never had FAs.Even if they had bought FAs,they would have been painted in the blue and yellow freight scheme, not warbonnet!
