i am thinking of painting a few diesel locomotives in new haven orange. what exactly does new haven orange look like? i dont think i hav ever seen photos of engines in that color, being that i am from michigan.
The same color as the orange used on the NH alcos in this month’s MR.
Go to the NHRHTA.org site there is a link to a forum and there should be many discussions about the NH colors . It is not a simple as NH orange unfortunately. If you are really interested there is a color chart book listed in their sales items. The book has most of the common NH colors in full page samples . There was the Warm Orange from 1940s to early 1950s then a number of different Reds and Red Orange from early 1950s on to 1968 .The Rs-3s in MR article are the Black with Red in the early1950s to mid 1950s period known as the McGinnis period .He was the president when these paint schemes were first used on the NH . The paint schemes are generally called the McGinnis paint schemes. There is so much more to this than a short post can tell, check the NHRHTA.site and forum.
