New Here question about Revell Ho Train set and T #'s

Hello , I have a Revell Ho train set in box the box is stamed ATlantic coast line switcher T 7077:1995 and the boxes with trains inside are all marked 1956. Question is does the T number outside of box have anything to do with age of box?

Im terrible getting around in these forums, am I in the right one for this questions?

This is the General Discussion forum page. The big room as we call it. You have to be patient. There’s a lot of topics here and people are viewing your post. Eventually, someone who knows what you have or knows someone who knows, will reply to your topic. I myself don’t know. So be patient and hang in there.

Thanks! I had question posted in another room and finally someone suggested I come here. Just wanted to make sure Im in right place,LOL

Revell is not known to be a maker of model trains, but was more along the line of “toy trains” sold at Christmastime, so it may take a couple of days for someone who has ever owned one to read your message. Remember, this is not a live chat forum.

Revell was a ‘scale’ train manufacturer in the late 50’s/early 60’s. They had a F7A, NW2, and a 0-6-0T that I remember(and of course, those ‘state of the art’ plastic buildings at the time). They also had some freight cars in their line. The F unit had a cab interior IIRC.

LOL, That IS MY set and listing. Like I said I dont know much about trains. Got a question about the T number on outside of box , didnt see one before, but after I got the question I checked again under bright light and found one. I have all the individual pieces in the box decribed as they are , now my concern is whether the box is as old as the pieces inside . That T # has me confused. I want to update the listing with the numbers stamped on the box, but want to know what they mean first.

The “T” on Revell train items was a prefix. Lionel in the MPC and LTI eras used a “6” as a prefix. This appeared on the boxes but not on the trains.

Cbq - Im not sure what you mean. Yes there is a T # on all the boxes and the main box. The T # on the outside of the main box I have is T 7077:1995. I want to know if that 1995 is just a number or a date???

1995 is the suggested retail price on the set. Remember you are dealing with the '60s here.

Thank you so much! clears alot up!

I do not recall my Revell F7 having a cab interior. I do recall it being a good runner and a good puller, even if those plastic spur gears were noisy as all hell. It also had the ONLY corrent rendition of the New Haven color scheme EVER applied to a plastic EMD cab unit (Before others remind me, yeah, I know, the NH never owned an F7).

Revell’s plastic building kits were a HUGE step up from what we had previously, i.e., Plasticville! I still have their farmhouse, which came with a garage (1 car, detached), a chicken coop, and believe it or not, a one-hole outhouse. This was the only outhouse I can recall ever being produced in HO!!!

My first HO set was by Revell. It was the Atlantic Coast Line colors, purple, and the set had a switcher with an oval track and a transformer. I remember the log car the most. I soon added to that set with a Walther’s Steam engine, Sante Fe and passengers cars by Athearn. Even back then Walther’s made interiors for Athearn cars, white metal kits, that really added the weight.
The Revell set was a Christmas gift in 1959, at $19.95, The Walthers steam engine and Athearn cars were for the next Christmas 1960. It was that Christmas that I was introduced to the Revell building kits. I believe Atlas obtained the molds, and still make some of those same buildings today.
Thanks for the memories, the Yard Master
