Sorry I don’t know if I’m in the right place or not and I know this question has probably been asked a thousand times. I also looked in the search section and nothing came up. So please be easy on me cause I’m new here.
Are you looking for horn hook or the Kadee knuckle couplers? I have plenty of horn hooks if you want them.
P.S. Nice signiture picture!
GNRR,
WELCOME to the forum. You can find answers to any Model Railroad question here.
Try your local hobby shop for the couplers and horns. If no store is near you, you can try
the internet train stores and / or Walthers catalog or their web site.
Ray ------ Great Northern fan.
First of all, welcome to the forum! [8D] [:)] Everyone here is really cool…including myself of course…[(-D] But your welcome to post any questions you have here. Its also a good place to chat with other model railroaders… See Big Boy 4005’s “Coffee Shop”.
Anyways, back to your question, it depends if your looking for horn hook or knuckle. The knuckle couplers could be bought from Katee but I don’t know where you could fing horn hook, maybe Life-Like?
Matt
Thanks!! Yes, I want the horn style couples or if I can, can you up date the to the Kadee knuckle couplers to Tyco and Bachmann? It seems lot of ways they used to attach the different couplers too and it’s driving me nuts.
I’m just getting into train stuff (HO) and I have lots of engines. Some with little screws that attach the couples and some look like they snap together.
I’m normally on the Big train boards and the MSTS boards but want to try some model train stuff too. Since I have the Tyco and Bachmann might as well start there. If need be I can give you my E-mail address ![]()
Steve
You can convert couplers on Bachmann, I know because I have, but I’m not sure about Tyco as I have not tryed converting those couplers yet…
Thanks for the welcome guy’s and I know Tyco isn’t the best out there but heck I need to start somewhere…LOL
Yes Cheese3, I would love to get the couplers from you. let me know how OK! ![]()
GNRR I sent you an e-mail
Hey cheese3, I just sent one back at ya… :~)
Let me know if it doesn’t get to ya.
Well it’s sand man time for me…LOL [;)]
Remember too… If you decided to switch to knuckle couplers, you can always have 1 or 2(or x#) of cars that have a horn on one end and a knuckle on the other as an adapter car till you can afford to do them all in knuckles.
GNRR-I will be sending them out In a couple of days, let me know when they get to you.
[#welcome] GNRR!
drop in the coffee shop sometime where we talk about anything but mostly trains! Hope you have a great start in the hobby.
John
Thanks Cheese3, That I’ll do. Pretty nice of ya to send them to me and I’m just a newbie too. If I ever see something someone needs I be sure to pay it forward![:)][:)][:)][:)]
Hey are you a Great Northern fan? I model the GN in 1957, Let me know and maybe we can swap references and such.
Randy Johnson
Yes! I sure am!! I lived right next to the Great Northern Tracks in Fergus Falls Minnesota. I have ridden the Western Star, and the Red River many, many times before the flag dropped on the Great Northern name. I even remember the close of the Steam era in the 50’s a little. I can share anything I can from memory and still remember what they were like just like yesterday. If I can help anytime just let me know of send me a e-mail at smk494949@wmconnect.com
Here’s a picture you will like…
My GN 4-8-2 mountain
Thanks Cheese3! Now if I can only build stuff like you. Like I said in another post I have no idea what I’m doing or where to start. But the best thing is I am. so get used to me asking questions. I have lots of HO stuff mostly Tyco stuff but I could not resist the urge to buy a new Proto Great Northern F7-A and B unit the other day along with a nice set of passenger cars complete with a cool observation car. Sure hope all this will run on my old HO track. I’m hearing stuff about different kinds now such as brass and steel and even different kinds of steel track.
It should run on your old track. I am using old track from the 50’s in that picture I showed you. It has been fully ballasted sense then and looks alot better and that picture was taken before I put all the detail parts on the loco.
[#welcome]to the forum. I started with bachman Fs. I have Katos and protos now. I’m also a big Train-simmer. i’d convert the engines to Kadees and have transition cars. as you get money put kadees on all of them.
Welcome, GNRR![:)] I too model the GN-if in somewhat a wider
period-1947 to 1967. Interesting that you hail from Fergus Falls,
being that the GNRHS convention is there this year. In fact, I’ll be
leaving on the Empire Builder on the 15th to attend. Are you a member?
I, too will be happy to discuss GN matters with you and help you in any
way possible. Again, welcome aboard!
