We just learned that Athearn will be releasing an Electro-Motive Division SD60 in HO scale. The model will be produced from new tooling (not an upgraded Rail Power Products shell). We’ll have a full report tomorrow morning on MR Express.
As they say…“sounds like a plan, stan.”
Oh my gosh, there’s another thing I have to get. Will SD60M’s and SD60I’s come too?
WHY? Railpower had the shell, Athearn made the drive and then bought Railpower.
(Just what we need - another Coal hauler with low couplers).
I, so am sorry, 'cause I missed the release of the Proto 2000 SD60, in my fav, NS# 6633. and so Yea, I’tll probably be cheaper than Life(like). Godspeed, the heritage, of Uncle Irve. acj.
Come to think, why upgrade the shell! Your talking to a modeler, who has sold the Dana/Railpower carbody to an NS conductor, and modeled the NS#6668, as the Andover coal train to Duke Power, viewed on Ole’ E Z Bob’s Saluda, America’s Steepest Class One Grade! Passing under Intersate 26, in the town of Saluda, North Carolina, on the top of the five percent grade. (Copywrite, American Altavista). Thanks, Bob Lohene! Allen/backyard
what line will it be in. I’m assuming Genisis. But i just wanted to make sure. I wish it were being made in bluee box so I could actually afford it. Can’t wait to see it though. And I’ll be waiting for the MR express tomorrow morning
Andrew
Looks like it will be R-T-R, I can’t wait, since Athearn has a separate undecorated version for CR this might have FRA “Bug Eye” Class Lights!
Roadnames and numbers are at Athearn’s site (no pic’s yet): http://www.athearn.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=RTR&OverallCatID=TH&CatID=THLD&SortBy=FirstAppearance
Oakway, NS, CSX, Conrail, Undec. CR version, and Undec.
They need to make more kits.
