New Jersey Transit suffers major losses from Hurricane Sandy

nj transit is currently operating only bus service in camden county, see their web site

if you go nj transit website, there are lots of photos of storm damage.

This is what you have when politicians run the railroads instead of career railroaders as in the past. They’re so busy beefing up the management ranks with incompetents who know little about this industry and didn’t have the foresight to move equipment to higher ground BEFORE the known arrival of the storm. They’re getting more and more like the MTA in NY. Keep hiring morons from the outside as executives and then blame the in house labor forces for the mismanagement.

Point of Correction: NJT is running Light Rail service between Camden and Trenton, serving Burlington and Camden County.

Point of correction: As of today, November 6, 2012, NJ Transit has full service restored on the North East Corridor between Trenton and NYC. The Long Branch service is still out for several reasons, primary amoung them the fact that only one track is in service between Bergen Interlocking and Penn Station. Second is track damage between Union Interlocking and Long Branch.

Was it really wise to build your operations centre in such a low lying flood prone location?
