New kress carrier in HO...{steel mill related}

Hello all,

Seeing I still haven’t started my out-door shed yet to house the steel mill. I’m confined to my work bench cranking out everything need for a large intergrated mill. The latest scratch/kit bash project is a 1987 design kress elevated pallet carrier,in other words a scrap bucket carrier.

I started the latest kress carrier as a HO norscot caterpillar 627G scraper front end.Hacked off the scraper bowl and used only the front end power unit as a base. Sooner or later I had to build this one to go with her other sister kress carriers.Now I have three different style carriers and another on the “to build list”. The next one will be a six wheel slab carrier…can’t have a steel mill without a slab carrier. I do have a few state tool & die slab cars for the slabs,but I needed something to catch a lookers eyes.Thus a kress slab carrier,but thats down the road a bit.

Geez its gonna be nice when all this stuff is set up…all I have to do is build the darn shed. I ran out of train related stuff to build,so I turned my creative building to more steel mill stuff.

The carrier its self is built from schematics from the US patent office. A great place for pretty much anything that has to do with machines,or at least drawings of them.

Should have pictures to share with you fellow steel mill nuts out there,before the week-ends out.
