Ok gona try and get the two pictures from xtrkcad onto here for the pros to tell me whats wrong…As you can see I am pertty new to this.I am going to put the layout in a shed (11’x13’)or a shed (11’x15’) or if can get wife to let me in part of the basement useing about the same dimentions. It will be in ho scale.Because I have been safeing up for last 30 years. Not to mention finding ebay last year.Probably going with around (1900-1920).Passenger and freight.Steam
Have not figured out how to get the round house on but turntable is.The helex will probably be a mountain when finished.Put the yards in but not sure will stay. Not sure of some areas (like the upper wall and all of the lower stageing areas).Don’t know what for mines or other things for sideings.Ok got the prints on photobucket.com.
Now see if I can get them on here http://s192,photobucket.com/albums/z80/slowtrained/
and http://i192,photobucket.com/albums/z80/slowtrained/
any advice or sugestions very welcomed .Thank you Ed
Your links are active, Ed, but they don’t yield a true site. You must have an error in your syntax, or you have the wrong links.
ok I might of forgot YellowShed image001.jpg after the rest of info.I hope this works for you or you might tell me how to get the piture onto here .learn slow ly
thank you for reply
slowtrainEd
Your links are no good. Revisit the photobucket account that you uploaded the images to and copy the forum link and paste it to this thread.
I used the photobucket’s main search box using z80 as a search target, turns out that account is marked private and unavailible for viewing.
I did a second search targeting slowtrained and found the following:
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z80/slowtrained/?action=view¤t=YellowShedimage001.jpg
http://s192.photobucket.com/albums/z80/slowtrained/?action=view¤t=YellowShedimage.jpg
Are these it?
The original problem with the links is the use of a comma and was compounded by not targeting the precise images you were trying to show. Taking the comma out and trying the link reveals a web error… apparently something else got fubared. So much for the internet.
Anyways I hope these are it.
Cut a length out of your turntable access track equal to or slightly longer than the depth of your roundhouse. Then move the turntable away from the wall and put the roundhouse there.
thank you safety valve .yes thats them.
Hi,
I’m not sure what you have planned. Can you give me the name of your layout, where it is located and the time it is located? Are there going to be any industries, because from the looks of things there are not. What is the purpose of your railroad? How does it make its money?
You might start with my Beginner’s Guide. You can click to it from my signature and tit only takes about 5 minutes to read.
Is that a staging yard or a real yard? Either way, it isn’t user friendly…in that it is almost inaccessible as you have it laid out. Your entry requires you to use the topmost ladder track, but if that is full, how do you get your train down the other ladders?
Hi spacemouse
you asked several questions and if you would have read all that I posted it says for beginners,I am not sure of mines or sideings(maybe I should of stated industries)and I also stated not sure what I was going to put in several places(like the upper wall and lower stageing).I have read your artical several times.
Your right I didn’t state: name because it doesn’t have one:location probably in the midwest because thats where I’m from and live.:time as stated above (190-1920)steam.:purpose is to run passenger and freight. thank you for your timeEd
selector thank you for asking I just stuck something there to get an idea of a yard. Don’t know what to do with it?after doing it I put the turntable and round in and changed the helex to otherside of room.Right now just trying to get ideas before starting building.
thank you for your time Ed
Ed, you may have read a few threads, including a couple quite recently, discussing yards. I am happy that you have included one because, no matter how we end up massaging it, in the end you will be grateful for what it allows you to do. As it is, I think that higher track doesnt’ really allow you to use it fully as it is oriented. But, it is a start. Maybe you could double your nether approach, at the bottom, to add a two-way capability. You could use that top one to back engines down to the roundhouse, or curve it back to make a caboose track. There are many ways to skin this cat. [:)]
thank you selector.I will try to rearange the yard and see if can make some better dissions on the end result. Ed
