try http://carendt.com/microplans/index.html lots of good designs there for limited spaces . you could even take 2 or 3 of them and combine them if you have space
Welcome Gavin, we need all the N scalers we can get, we are outnumbered by these mean as beans HO guys [;)]
When you say lenght isn’t an issue, but only 10 inches wide, can you explain more? I can see a pretty prototypical layout. Lot’s of action to be had. Can you give some more info?
What year are you modeling?
DC or DCC?
Are you wanting a lot of operations as opposed to running trains?
Will it be a point to point or continous?
Are you interested in a specific location already, town or state?
Ya know david, when you really get to know us, we arent to bad[:D]
Just for a good laugh, what would you say to people who model both HO and N? Spies?
[:D][:D][:D]
Gavin, [#welcome],
and [#ditto] to all previous that has been said.
Depending on how long the length is, your space still seems highly functional for N.
Judging that this seems like a narrow space along a wall, you could perhaps put in 2 10 inch shelves and put in an elevator type assembly that would tranfer trains in between. This would double your space, and perhaps you could use the lower space to stage trains, or double your visual section, or a mix. Just an idea, but i think there is a topic on elevators either on the first or second page of this forum.
Then again, think simple, take it slow, read, read, read.
Think over your plan, and then get out there and do it!
havnt been online recently so here goes
have worked out a yard plan and would like to run it by you
train enters yard reception track standard loop with headshunt at 1 end and entrance to shed at other, 3-4 sorting sidings in ladder style dead ends
1 siding running along the back of the yard to either ice loading dock combined with car loading underneath other end freight house with 1-2 roads for storage also a siding to run to a private siding any thing else i could do?
Gavin, You see that there is a war between N scalers and HO scalers, ( be it a friendly one), Welcome to the forum, I would do a “around the wall” layout also, ask any question you might have, don’t be shy, We re here to help you, enjoy the “World Best Hobby”
