It has been a while since I posted about construction and so much has happened. Pictures will be added soon but for now…
-I have constucted all the benchwork for a 12 1/2’ x 21’ double decked layout. Height at 36" for lower level an 56" for upper deck. Upper deck also has a separate loop 8" above main that is still under construction.
Four continous loops or one main loop.
a 42’ long ramp to connect the two levels.
-13 industrail sidings
-Four passenger stations
-Freight yard that holds 20+ cars with a small engine terminal
-Two hidden staging tracks
Things that still need to be complete before scenery is started include
Trolley line
Backdrops
Coal mine
Interchange track for operating sessions
I hope to get pictures posted soon to show how this all fits into my two car garage
I will post a trackplan and pics ASAP. I am using regular Lionel tubular track that has been weathered and extra ties added. As of now there are about 56 switches on the layout. I am going to try to keep the scenery as scale as possible but still use Lionel signals and operating accessories.
WOW !! Did you say this was going to be THE clubs layout? That is really going to be super, however I do admit I am a little disapointed, (not really) on how you were going to get a layout with 4 tracks and 56 switches on a 2’ wide layout.
This is not a club layout, however, I do have a group of friends who come over once a week to assist me with construction, B.S., Have a few beers and offer their vast array of oppinions. I spend about 4-5 hours a day working on the layout on my days off of work and have done all of the benchwork and tracklaying myself, along with the wiring.
Andy, Great looking layout, can’t think of a better use for a garage. BTW please post larger pictures the next time, my eyes aren’t what they once were. Notice the large print.
