new layout

Hey everyone,

I’ve been tinkering with ideas for a new layout, I love the Wexford County RR from the most recent issue of MR but my layout is a little bigger than a 4 by 8 so i changed the idea a little bit. I also want to try some different industries along the track so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Thanks

I guess I would like to know what level of experience that you have with model railroading[;)]. Also, what era are you going to model? I have a fondness for George Sellios and Fine Scale Miniatures. There are several buildings from the latest “Jewel” series that would be great. They feature a small diorama of an industry near the mainline. It is very detailed and takes a long time to build. The results are worth it!![:D]. Look up Fine Scale Miniatures. I do not think that the new kit is the kind of structure that you are looking for, but the website will give you an idea of what these kits look like.

While Aikidomaster mentions Fine Scale Miniatures he could provide some links:

and more recently with other kits listed:

FSM kits can be rather expensive, often very time consuming to build and are only manufactured in very limited quantities.

Get yourself a Walthers catalog if you can and peruse industries kits. Or, what industries interest you, are around your local area, or would you like to see? and go from there. If you like beer, for insatance, how about a brewery? OR see what industries your favored real railroad served.

Thanks for the suggestions

I have modeled a few layouts before but this layout will be my first serious track. I want to model the New England area and the 80’s to recent era. i will look at the Jewel series that you suggested to find industries along my track, i feel i should mention that on the track plan that was in the MR the industries were oil, food (which i was planning to keep), and lumber. But there was also salt mine silos which i am not quite sure what they are.

Thank you,

I just went to your links and those are very expensive, i think ill just stay with Walthers.[(-D]

Thanks for your help
