These look interesting, LED lighting designed primarily for Lemax or Dept56 style buildings. Wonder if they would lend themselves to other layout buildings with some minor modifications ?

Depends how long the cord is on the light sockets, as they might work with Plasticville buildings if they don’t get that hot.
I would rather just change my old Mazda lights out for new LED screw-in bulbs, no need to change the wiring.

I think those would be great - you have to drill a pretty big hole through the table top to feed a conventional light/plug through.

LEDs don’t generate heat. That is one of their benefits.
I would like to know how long the cords are from the bulb base to the strip. If they are over 2ft long, then yes they could very well lend themselves to a lot of uses.

LEDs do produce heat. And a small LED plus a ballast resistor for current control likely produce much more heat together than an equivalent (same luminous flux) incandescent lamp. They produce that heat at a much lower temperature, however, which is the real advantage that they have for our applications.
Initially I saw them on E-Bay and went looking for more info, original listing didn’t specify incandescent or LED. Subsequently found that they are in fact LED’s.
Bob, I believe it would only require a small hole to be drilled as the plug that connects to the power source is removable.
Brent, They are made by Lemax, they ain’t cheap but mite be worth a “look-see”.

Nice looking set of LED lights. Lemax lists them for $35.00(approx.) on their website plus shipping.[%-)] I did not see any replacement light bulbs for sale, but I just looked for the light set mainly.
Not sure if I want to drill a hole for each plug, through my plywood, on the set.

Hmmmmm…that definitely looks interesting, especially since Linda does a huge Dept 56 Halloween display and a slightly smaller Christmas display. I’ll have to show her this thread tonight.
I will certainly be looking for them after “season”. I can think of a number of places they would come in handy.
