New Lionel Collector's Club of America Set

The #209 New Haven ALCO A/A 1958 post war replica set on the back inside cover of CTT looks very nice. Does anyone here have any interest in it? At $499.95 it sounds like an ok deal.

Quite frankly, THAT IS FREAKIN AWESOME!

There’s no mention of it, but I’m assuming the powered locomotive only has one motor.

Jim

it even tempts me, although I sure would like to pick up an original.

It sure is beautiful, isn’t it? What a reproduction! But it’s not a trolley or an electric [;)]

Compare it to the cost of an original or even the williams repro and it sounds like a good deal.

In the picture it shows the lever sticking out the top of the loco even though it is said to have an electronic reverse unit. I assume it works to lock out the the reverse unit like an old postwar did. Even with the lever sticking out I find it an attractive set.

I have never been a part of Lcca or any other club save the nmra and a locoal S gauge club but this offer way cause me to join.[oX)]

Looks nice in the photo. Does it come with TMCC? Also does it have one or two motors in the powered unit? Is this just a train set or do you get track also?

Could not get much info from the Lionel site.

Track and transformer not included. how many motors? Don’t know.

Hello All! Engine will only have one Pullmore Motor & the Train does not come with any Track or Transformer. It is supposed to be packed in a Box designed like the Original also. Take Care.

Don’t be fooled by the picture. That picture is the original set with the old E-unit and the removable vents on the coach roofs which Lionel no longer makes. Also, The add says nothing about a AC pulmor motor. If the final ordering date is June '07, then delivery is at least a year away. I can’t see ordering this set now and tie up $500 for a year. The LCCA needs to post more info and specs on this set.

I believe that when the set was announced at the Denver LCCA convention it was stated it would have a Pulmor motor. I don’t remember if it had TMCC or not.

The E-unit lever on the loco and the removable vents on the coaches made me wonder as well if the train in the photos is an original or the reproduction. Either way - nice train!
