New Lionel F12e 10 wheeler

I received the new F12e with Legacy yesterday. It runs well and sounds great. There has been much improvement since the last ten wheeler. I had hoped that Lionel would add a cord from the bell to the cab but they did not. No big deal though. I use Ross Custom and older Right of Way switches. No problems running through them. The Locomotive is equipped with nice detail and the sound sports 4 chuffs per revolution. I am very happy with this Steamer. I am curious to hear from others who purchased this engine. Thanks.

Thanks for the info on the 10 wheeler. I have been eyeballing one but just didn’t want to pull the trigger yet.

The original release of this loco had an oil burning headlight probably modeling the loco as it left the builder. This new release had an electric headlight but the catalogue illustration showed no turbo generator added which it should now have. Does you model have such generator? Tried to preorder one of these models one time but the dealer said that he had used his allocation on this model. Just Trains has them in stock but now have too many other preorders. Hope you enjoy your loco.

I’m afraid in their infinite wisdom, Lionel decided not to make a new lettering paint mask for the tender on the F12e and reused the mask from the Boston & Albany 10 Wheeler from several years ago. Therefore, instead of the tender reading “New York Central” as it was correctly shown in the catalog, it reads “New York Central Lines.”

Not a deal breaker for me, just an annoyance. I will repaint and reletter this tender.[banghead]
