Hello,
I´m Alex from Barcelona, Spain. I read this forum from some weeks ago. Here, I can read many specialist of railroads and layouts.
My favorite kind of trains are the USA instead of European or Spanish ones.
As our homes is a little bit more small than yours I will made a layout 12 x 9 feet (around 4 x 3 meters).
I would like to have some help of you when I have doubts.
Regards,
Alex
Welcome Alex, Does the 1862 imply that this is the era that you are modeling? I assume that you plan on an HO or N scale layout on a 12’x9’ area. What is to be the “Theme” of your proposed layout? We are always here to assist and offer out 2 cents worth of advice. Kalmbach Publishers have many train layout books. Send a diagram of your room, to show doors, windows, etc. In order to Post a photo, it must first be placed in a photo Host, eg. Photobucket.com (or others). Once you have established a dedicated model railroad Album on My Albums, you will see four options below each of the photos that you placed there. Click on the bottom,“IMG” option. Momentarily, the word “Copied” will appear. Now, go to Trains.com and either start your own Thread, or Reply to someone else’s Thread. Type in your Text and then click on “ctrlV” The lengthy code for your photo will appear. Scroll down to “Post”, and click on it. Your Text and Photo will, soon appear (at the end of other Threads). You can always click on Edit, to correct “typos”,add, or delete what you have Posted. Happy Model Railroading Bob Hahn

Hi Alex,
with 3 m x 4 m you have the right space fo a nice H0n3 layout. [:)]
Look at MRH or the plan in MR Jan 10 from Armstrong.

Hi,
HHPATH56:
I think that 1862 is the fundation year of Union Pacific, isn´t it? I will do my layout in H0 scale. It is a very good scale with many many details.
I need to read more about american layouts and as you comment, Kalmbach has a lot of it.
Now I´m with exams for my bachelor but in some weeks I will publish some photos of our garage and you can help me.
Wolfgan:
I prefer H0 instead of H0n3 layout. But thanks for your idea.
Regards,
Alex.
Alex.
Welcome to the Forums and good luck with your Batchelors Degree.
As has been mentioned previously, you have a pretty good size for an HO layout. Do not be afraid to ask for information. Remember, the only stupid question is the one NOT asked and you learn a wealth of information by making mistakes. You can take that from one who thought that he knew and made a LOT of mistakes. All the best and good luck with your layout.

By the way, the Search Community box at the upper right side of these threads has a wealth of information that has been discussed here.
