New member with a couple questions

Hi all…Just became a member of the forum and am slowly getting back into model RR. Will hopefully be faster after I buy a house in a couple months.

I do have one question if anyone remembers the 1960’s book “The Complete Book of Model Railroading” by David Sutton. I remember reading it and getting inspired for my first couple tries in trains, all back in the mid 80’s. But what has always been on my mind is in the book, there were a lot of photos from a layout by a guy named Jim Foell. Does anyone remember him or know if his layout was ever in a magazine.

Thanks…Bob

[#welcome] Bob, glad to have you. As for your question, I can’t help you. You have come to the right place, though. I’m sure there is someone here who can. If you fill like it, stop by the coffee shop, and sit awhile. The first cup is free.

Robert

Hi Bob;

I have the book :slight_smile:

Check the index of magazines link above.

A big welcome to you Bob. I am not familiar with that book, but wanted to tell you that there are many good books to inspire and direct you in your MRR’ing. Check http://walthers.com/ and see if they have it listed. While your at it, check out all that’s offered. Kalmbach Publishing has many. Go to Walthers manufacturers list and click K for Kalmbach.

Hi Bob,
I can’t help you with your question, either, but would like to say welcome aboard. Like you, I’m new here, though I’ve been “lurking” for a couple weeks. There’s lots of good info to be found here, so enjoy! Hopefully someone will be able to answer that question for you!

Bob go to abebooks.com. that book is available in used condition starting at $1.95; yes, that less that two dollars + shipping. good luck and welcome. While on the subject of books - I’m looking for a book in HO that covers all the prerequisites like track assembly, wiring, etc. I’ve found several books that were written several years ago, but I’m not certain that they would suffice for today’s railroading.

[#welcome][#welcome] To Bob and Joe, welcome to both of you. Glad you dropped a line and said hello. Hope these boards get you going in the great world of MRRs. As there are great suggestions on where to get your book above, let me add ebay as another source, just watch the shipping charges. Ask away, and drop by the coffee shop.
