New Message(s)

Another complaint about the new format.

Instead of Conversations, they now reference it as New Message(s).

Under the old format, if you had “messages” (aka Conversations aka Private Messages), there would be a number after the word Conversations which indicated the number of updated Conversations that you needed to read.

Under the new format, the words New Message(s) turns red, but no number to indicate how many new messages you have to read. Once you respond, the words New Message(s) remains in red, so the feature is rendered meaningless because thereafter you have to click on New Message(s) to see if there are any new responses.

i have the same issue, Rich, and it does leave me wondering.

After I read/answer my messages the Message(s) notice goes back to black as it should. Are you opening all the unread messages?

Yep, I read them all.

Once it turned red, it never reverted back to gray. Others have told me the same thing. Not sure if there is a fix or what it is.

Rich

Same here. I miss the old forum.

Ken

Same as out here in the regular forms. Once you’re read it once, it goes grey, and never turns back, even when people make new posts.

My messages notification was staying red like others. I realized that it highlighted all of the old conversations I had never deleted. After either clicking on all of the old conversations or deleting them my messages icon went to gray. Basically it reactivated all of the old conversations.

Corey, you are the man.

After I read your reply, I went back to my oldest PM, some 21 pages back. There were 11 messages from April 2010 which were higlighted in red indicating that I had not read them. Except that I had read them back in 2010. For whatever the reason, maybe because they were the oldest 21 messages in the folder, they were marked as Unread. So I read them once again and the New Message(s) turned gray.

Incredible !

Rich

And that’s why I asked if you had opened all unread messages. Computers can do weird things. The Message(s) icon turns gray? Must be dark gray as I see it as black. If it was a medium/light gray I’d see it as silver.
