New modern structure product by Summit USA

I’m not sure if this was already pointed out in the past few days:

I wanted to point out that Summit USA just released a new Taco Bell Model.
Seems like they are going petty well producing new modern american prototypes
(They recently did a Super 8 Motel).

It seems that there could soon be a pretty decent set of modern structures, as there are often questions if modern buildings can be purchased.

While i’m not a modern day modeler (Nor do I like fast-food), I thought it would be good to point out.

It looks like Pelle may have worked much more than he had to (though I love his modeling, how fantastic it is, and i’ll put in a little tribute for him).

Now that i’m done with my rambling (wow how I ramble-and use parentheses).

Here are a few specs:
5.5" x 8.25"
$69.95 (Faint-Owie)

You can see more on page 11 in the May 2006 MR, N&P.

Anyone think that new modern structures like these will become a growing trend in manufacturers, or that because people continue to stick with transition era it won’t happen?

I do model the present, but thing like taco bell on the layout don’t really inspire me.But some types of Modern buildings would be welcome…Although no towns are purely modern, Modern style office buildings in the 1 to 2 story range would be nice.

Actually, just about all the period fast food places from the 1930’s onward have been covered at one time or another in HO. The White Castle and HoJo’s goes way back and there honestly have been too many to name. While they’ve never created any trend in the hobby that I’m aware of, many have become HO collectibles!

I saw the Taco Bell and loved it. being from SoCal that looks just like the Taco Bells around her. Its just too bad that I’m going to build a Del Taco for my layout instead of Taco Bell. But I’m loving all the new building coming out.

Does someone know if Summit USA has a website?

zgardner18, yes, they do.

Oops, my bad. It was called the “Summit Motel” Not a Super 8.

I didn’t realize that Pelle was somehow involved with this company. I was a bit stunned when I saw what was surely his “Denny’s” on their page. The site was a bit unclear, but perhaps he had it milled by them, although I recall him choosing to purchase his own, it which case he may have purchased from them.

Apparently he took a few photographs of a Denmark station model. Does/did Pelle also model Europe?

Yoshi, dude thanks for the info. Man, they do good work. I don’t understand how Pelle is involved with them. Can someone expand on that or should I just ask Pelle himself. Have you seen his wesite. His layout is so nice, and he takes great pictures too.

Thanks for the link, yoshi. Hopefully we’ll see more and more ofthese great buildings from them.

I think that Summit USA is my new favorite company. Their future products sound great, and I love what they are putting out now. We need more of that.

I love his website, I love his MR articles, I love his railroad. Both the trackplan and theme have greatly inspired me.

You might want to ask Pelle about his involvement; i’d assume he got some work done by them.
