New MRL SD70ACe's

I saw a picture of one in the December issue of TRAINS and it looks pretty snappy in it’s blue and black paint.[8D] Looks even better than Uncle Putrid’s yellow ones.[:o)]

I saw these locomotives when they came through Vancouver on the BNSF to be painted down in Washington, at the time, they were still in their white primer.

I was dissapointed to see that, as I was looking forward to seeing the MRL scheme on the new loco’s, but alas, I will have to settle for seeing them in pictures.

Although I am glad my favorite railroad, the Montana Rail Link, is doing well and can afford these things at $ 1 million+ apiece, I am sad to see some of the old SD45s go. I was out there this summer to see the SD45s last stand. What great machines they are. I hope the MRL succedes, and the new ACEs work out for them.

And yes, they are neat [:I]

Chris, I believe MRL will be keeping most of the SD45s and leasing them out.
At least I hope they do.

MRL has been leasing a lot of its older power to BNSF since 2004.

It’s cool to see MRL power down here in Illinois.
