New Orleans

I will be in the New Orleans area from 6/18/06-6/24/06 and will have my entire day free on 6/19/06 to railfan. Could anyone tell me some good railfan locations in the area. I have only been to N.O. once and did not get to see much while there. Also what about the SP steam engine that was restored and ran some excursions on the KCS? Any Museums I should take a look at.

I’m originally from the area, but coudn’t tell you much about how to get around or where’s best to go now. Try these guys: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/LRMRG/

I personally like the NS line that crosses the lake, but I think the CSX line over The Rigolets gets more action. The local guys in that Yahoo group can probably steer you right. Have FUN!

well I’m sure you could get some great photo’s of waterlogged or submerged stock. other than that, i doubt there’s much going on right now.

Flat wrong. There’s plenty of rail activity going on.

While this will sound like a blatant plug it is not. My uncle has a resturant in the FQ called “Petunia’s”. It is at the corner of St. Louis and Bourbon St. He has had the same chef for thirty years. She has used or incorperated some of my grandmother’s recipes with some of her own. You will find 5 star food without the price. Breckfast, lunch or dinner you will not be dissapointed. I am only telling you this as I know from eating there myself that you will find a good meal. It’s just like eating in grandma’s kitchen. Enjoy, and if you go you can tell them Richard Robinson sent you.
