According to the May Model Railroader, “Pelle has already written an article for us describing how he scratchbuilt Daneville’s commerical buildings.” Who else here is as excited as I am?
I can barely contain myself,I would like to have a tenth of his talent.
I can’t wait i seen your letter to the editor Dave now your famous lol

One tenth? Man I’d settle for 1 percent!!
Dark,
My Dad’s family is from Salem!
The guy is awesome.
I love George Selios’ modeling. Pelle Soeborg seems to be 180 degrees from that. Pure realism, without an overwhelming amount of detail.
George’s modelling looks like candy - seriously, it’s like I see his models, and I want to eat it or something - it just looks so awesome and inviting.
Pelle’s looks like actual photographs of the area he’s modeling. Photographs of his layout make me feel like I’m 15 years old, driving through Mojave without air conditioning, hoping I could find a gas station with a clean bathroom. It’s like realism just slapping you in the face with how realistic it is.
This is what I love about model railroading - you can enjoy such different extremes equally.
And the best bit about this forum is you can enjoy model rail roadin from any where on the globe and believe you are there even though the builder hasn’t been in some cases. Enjoy. I have to wait another month over you people before I can salivate over Pelles article Cheers Les
A huge Pelle Soeborg fan - and I’m overjoyed about his next article! Very few have achieved the mastery of today’s modern American streetscape than him (not to mention those beautiful southern cali deserts!).
I am amazed at Pelle’s ability to make things look so realistic. And he models subjects a world away from where he lives. The man has some serious modeling talent. The comment above about enjoying various extremes of modeling is true. I thought the old Cat Mountain & Santa Fe was great and it was nothing like Pelle’s work or George Selios’ work. Chuck Hitchcock’s new Argentine Industrial layout is done in yet another style and is equally as amazing.
Cheers,
Ed
I can’t wait! I really loved his article in the March issue of 2005
Mr soeborg is the best when it comes to modern era modeling, “Big Diesels in the desert” was one of my favorite layout tours in recent memory.
And wheres my May MR dangnit.
I agree with what they say. Pelle’s work is more illusionary than super-detailed. Although his detailing to us “peons” is beyond reproach it’s his lack of super-detail which makes his scenery so awesome. Add to that the perfection of detail in the locomotives and the eye goes to the main point of his images…the action! Thank God we have modeler’s of this quality who are able to share their expertize with the rest of us.
That will be an article that I’ll look forward to seeing. I have to agree with CARRfan. I really appreciate Pelle’s attention to detail, without letting it go over the top.
