I just want to let you know that the New Products section of the ModelRailroader.com forums will be removed in the next few days. All future new product discussions are encouraged to take place in the General Discussion area. (Current discussions within the New Products section will be moved to the General Discussion section.)
Why are we doing this? Since many new product discussion already take place in the General Discussion area, we felt the discussions regarding new products would get more activity if they were in the General Discussion section (where a majority of users spend their time).
Erik,
It’s Kalmbach’s “nickel,” but I, for one, would like to see it stay where it is. The General Discussion section is already too big, and well, too general. If anything General Discussion should be split into several sections. Obviously, since mine is the first post in response on the topic, not many folks care one way or the other. That’s my “two cents” worth.
Bob
I have to agree with the two other posters. The General Discussion section is rambling and disjoint as it is. I’d much prefer the New Products section left as is.
Erik,
Don’t want to beat a dead horse, iron or otherwise, and certainly don’t condone plagiarism, but in regard to categories for forums, I think The Gauge sets a very good example. Again, I realize it’s Kalmpubco money that supports this forum and this forum is definitely performing a useful service for the model railroading public.
