Glad to see EMD SD9 locomotives in HO. I ran a real SD9 (ex SP) at the WP Museum in Portola CA. Comparing the SD9 to a GP7 was a big surprise. That extra 250 HP made a gigantic difference. A great locomotive in the real world. This model should be a great one. Need to have it id SP bloody nose colors
Just got the Bachmann Alco S4 Western Maryland Switcher with DCC/SOUND $100.00. Creeps at NCE Power Cab setting 1 no jerkiness just smoooothe runnung. Sound is fantastic especially the turbo. I have not seen this loco in MR yet it would be a great one to review. Ch
Really enjoyed the article. I saw a BNSF version of the SD9 in the Walther’s Flyer but I ended up missing the boat on that one. I did purchase on of those arslide hopper cars although I bought mine back 2002 and it still looks the same today as it did the day I bought it except I replaced the couplers (back then Walther’s cars were equipped with Bachmann knuckle couplers) and the car has accumulated a little dust over the years but they are very durable cars. Anyway, enjoyed the article, guys!
Make a Soo Line SD9 in both schemes, as well as Milwaukee Road Billboard scheme. Also, make all schemes for Minneapolis and St. Louis, and Nickel Plate/N&W.
