We are well into the 21st Century and US and Canadian model railroad manufacturers still fail to provide models for South and Central America or Cuba. Mexico is being represented somewhat but how can the World’s Greatest Hobby use such a name with only US and Canadian models being promoted for the most part?
Brazil’s Frateschi manufactures top quality HO models for the South American railways and even offer a General Electric EP4 as used by the New Haven as well as several GE diesels like the G12, U5B, and even the FA1. A pity that this excellent company’s products (locomotives, freight and passenger cars and structures) are never reviewed in Model Railroader.
They are one of HO’s best kept secrets and it is time they receive the coverage they most well deserve!
I agree with Joseph Toth regarding the Frateschi locomotives. I have been using two of their diesels on our modular club layout for about two years now, running continuously - when open for public viewing - without any problems at all even outlasting Athearns ! Frateschies are about the same level as Walthers’ Trainline, cost and quality wise
