New railroad in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

Great news!

How did LS&I miss out on this?

JN, the LS&I is owned by an iron mining company with world wide reach. LS&I sold them the 12 miles between Ishpeming and Humboldt Jct. Apparently they were not interested in a switching operation not related to their iron ore haul.

Nice to see some good news from this area. Also nice to see the name of a DSS&A predecessor resurrected.

Jim Norton- this didn’t fit in with the LS&I’s operations. They are a heavy-duty mining railroad and had little interest in running over to Humboldt a couple of times per week.
