New sand plant opens on St. Croix Valley Railroad

Farmers in Iowa are complaining about sand left over from the last flood. Couldn’t they scoop it up and send it “Fracking”? Oh, well. It is Iowa…

Should not have announced this. Now every kook Marxist greenie weenie eco-terrorist with an ax to grind will show up and protest sand. Seen it first hand in Winona a few months ago. That was, until one of them almost got pancaked by the bucket of a center pivot loader.

Interesting how this has become a topic as of late. I’m sure UP is possibly looking into ways to increase traffic off the Wisconsin & Northern (Progressive Rail) through it’s connection at Chippewa Falls and Altoona Wisconsin. In light of CN’s recent announcement to re-open its’ branch line from Ladysmith West to Almena, Wisconsin. It’s nice that short lines in the area now have something to gain by this recent boom. Let’s hope this business can be built into something long term instead of just a boom…

I’m with you “Steven”.
