Anyone else here still using Windows XP ? Appears as though I keep getting pushed further to the back of the bus. Apparently a lot of sites are moving to a newer security protocol that my old Windows XP machine won’t let me access any longer because XP is no longer supported for the required updates. One suggestion was to use Firefox instead of Chrome, but Firefox won’t let me proceed without a cell number as a back-up for data, and I don’t own a cell phone ! I guess my reluctance to keep up with technology is going to one day soon shove me right out the back door of this bus and leave me behind.
XP end-of-support was four years ago. Since then, the bad guys have created a ton of exploits targeting XP that have not been addressed by Microsoft. I hate planned obsolescence as much as the next guy, but why would you want to go on the Internet with an operating system that is so thoroughly compromised?
XP is past end-of-life; no support and you are using that thing on the wild wild web? Do yourself a favor and at least get a Win 7 clunker if money is an issue; it is good until Jan 2020 at least. Better yet, go Win 10.
