Hi im new to this forum im wanting to start a train lay out , what would be less $$money HO or N scale…Thanks steve
Per square foot, N scale is more expensive because you can fit more. Per locomotive/rolling stock piece, they are pretty much the same.
It really comes down to what you want. Do you want lots of scenery and run trains through it (N scale) or do you want detailed trains running through scenery bits(HO scale)? Your call.

I use to have HO when i was a young teen now 50yrs, i just thought it was time to try N scale for a change, PS may need stronger glasses! Thanks steve
Stick with Kato and Atlas for your locomotives and you will have years of trouble free operation.
Atlas CD55 line of track is top notch, easy to find and cost effective.
If you go with Atlas CD55, then all your cars will have to have ‘low profile’ wheels installed (microtrain cars come with ‘pizza cutters’ and have to be swapped out…they provide the extra ‘low profile’ wheel sets).
Enjoy and welcome back to the World’s Greatest Hobby!
