RJ - i bet if you look closely at the Green River snowplow you will see that the front trucks have been blocked with no spring movement possible. Helps to reduce derailing.

I think. it was a recent issue of TRAINS that had a picture of two UP locomotives off track, and canted over. They had hit a heavily iced road crossing that caused them to take off cross country…

There may be a picture in Trains of a CN switch engine that got of the rail & skidded into a guy’s driveway. Stopped in time to make it look like the engine was parked that way. IIRC may have been one of those tough Canadian winters. “Look mom we got a real train to play with”.
