New Tangents

Received my six pack of the new Tangent covered hopper, ATSF of course, really great first impression. My bank card groaned, but the rest of me is happy.

Bob Miller

What is the built date on those models?

Dave Nelson

4/64 as best as my poor eyes could see. My copy of “Listing of Freight Cars by Class and Car Number 1906-1991” shows the GA134’s first listed 1965, however the book jumps 2 years at a time, from 63 to 65. It shows 274 cars on roster in 1965, 206 still on roster in 1989, which is my modeling era, and 201 in 1991, the last year the book covers.

So looks like Tangent pretty well nailed them.

Man, I hate to think about weathering them, they are beautiful. think I will run them for awhile as they came.

Bob

Many thanks, I model 1967-69 and finding cars that are common and the correct era and with correct markings (or should I say, lack the incorrect markings) is always a challenge (my eyesight is as poor as they come so I do not lose sleep over re-weigh “New” dates). These sound right up my alley.

Dave Nelson

That’s okay, I only worry about reweighing when it is me and the doctor is doing it.

Bob

Why do I always seem to weigh 10 pounds more on the doctor’s scale?
