Hi all,
I just started a new tender for my Porter to provide power when going over frogs.
Heres some pics.
And yes those are headphone things attatched to the truck.
I didn’t take pictures till i put it in between the bookends to hold the couplers in place.
Scott
BTW how do you turn on HTML?
Heres the tender with the deck and coal bunker ready to be stained.
Scott
I have finished all the woodwork and it is awaiting stain.

Hi trainmaster1989
While not to my tastes that is certanly an interesting looking tender.
Has it worked out the way you hoped as far as stalling goes.
One small coment how does the crew fill the water tank? cannot see a filler cap in the
pictures.
regards John
John Busby,
Thanks.
I haven’t yet tried it at Fairplex, however it has worked in all my tests.
The filler cap is going on today. I wanted to get the tank secure first.
Here are the latest updates:
The fuel bunker with filler styrofoam inside
The tender cradle
The filler cap
The completed tank
More to come soon.
Scott
Looks good Trainmaster, but some of the pics, didnot show up.
I would like to see the finished tender.
Aljay,
Thanks
Sorry about the pics. Geocities has an hourly data transfer limit and so it must have been down. Were the ones that didn’t show up the latest ones?
I’ll keep this post updated. Almost finished.
Scott
Nice Trainmaster,
What is the background on this kind of tender, like when and where was it used?
Hi gelman
Stevensons ROCKET at the Rainhill trials[:D]
ie at the dawn of railway history. I am sure there are US equivelents in the early days of your railroad history
regards John
Ghelman,
Actually I made up the design, however it does seem reminiscent of the Rocket; (maybe it’s not as original as i thought
It was used in the pacific northwest (at least i think that’s what dad called it) during the late 18 hundreds to early 19’s, hence the sea gull you see in the completed pictures. The Railroad is in an area similar to that of Calico Ghost Town.
Here is a shot of the tender nearly completed i just need to paint the couplers a rust color.
more to come soon
Scott
I ran the car at Fairplex and it worked perfectly.
I forgot the camera though so i don’t hae any pictures of it.
Scott
Looks good. Keep the photos comimg. thanks for the bit of history John.
Here is the tender with the chassis and couplers rusted
How do i simulate water stains?
Scott
Hi Scott,
Yes the last 2 photos of the filler cap and the finished tender. Here is a pic of the hopper cars that I am working on, hope this works. Try this link and let me know if it works http://ca.geosites.com/aljay11@rogers.com/trains.html
Aljay,
it nearly worked, a little tweaking and i got to the page.
those are awesome cars they look great. Will you post photos of the finished product on that page?
BTW i don’t think the forum likes html which is probably why it didn’t work. if you just type in the address it should just convert it to a hyperlink automatically.
Again, great models.
Scott
Thanks Scott,
I tried to get the link to work but gave up after changing it so many times.
I will post the finished photos on the same page along with some of the other cars I have built,
Al
Neat! this looks really good! I might give one a whirl for one of my Porters!
Aljay,
I’ll keep watching the page then.
Vsmith,
Thanks
Here are some picks of it with rust stains on the tank.
I’ve been doing really small steps lately because i have school.
Any suggestions on how i can make it better?
Scott
