New to outdoor railroads

First off I am new to this. I have been interested in installing a garden railroad for a few years but I have not known where to get track. I can find the locomotives and the rolling stock just fine, but the track has been some thing I have not been able to locate the track.

can someone help?

My Ideal railroad is 1800’s-early 1900’s and the locomotives I have found are all steam. I am also interested in DCC can someone help with that as well? I dont really understand DCC, I get the concept but not the entire Idea.

You want to decide battery or track power first, that will drive your track choice.

Look at the menu on the left, you will see subsections and track choice is there… I also have a main track page where I list materials and manufacturers and joiners.

You did not say where you are located. Might check and see about a local club in your area. Join up with it and ask around. I like code 250 track, makes the trains look more real than bigger code 332(aristo/LGB/USA).

First off welcome to the forum[8D], A location would help us - help you. Track is avalable but first you need to decide if you want Brass ( needs to be cleaned regularly ) or stainless steel ( I wipe mine down monthly ) Then you need to decide if you want standard gauge or 3foot gauge tie spacing. and then you need to decide if you wnat battery or Track powered equipment and then…

Other alternative metals are aluminum and nickel silver.

Hi And welcome to our hobby, you could look on ebay there are lots of track there try to stick to one make I use LGB and its been down 6yrs+ and ive moved it as ive extended the layout over the years No problems when you move it good conections are the main thing. Bachmann track is indoor no suitable for gardens Hope this helps

Since he’s new to all this, maybe he stumbled on the site and forgot where he posted the question or how to get back here.
