New to the modeling

I am new to the modeling and scenery aspect of trains as I am building my first layout. One thing I would really like is an engine shed, for one or two engines. Does anyone recomend a company that makes nice sheds. I have mostly all steam. Thanks, Mike

PS Ideas for more value (cheaper) is always helpful!

If you want a shed for your steam loco look in the CTT mag. Also try www.choochooauctions.com for some model train bargains, I like this place better than ebay!

A couple of things that I do and you may want to do; I use aquarium stones(black) for small pieces of coal that fall from the tender and scatter them along the track, other thing that I have done is to pick up some slate rock when up north in Pennsylvania or New York area and use them as rock scenery.

If you are using tubular track you may want to check out three R plastics for rubber ties to put under your track, find the website in CTT mag in the back under advertisers.

Atlas makes a nice engine shed. Would look great with a few steamers in it.

I have the Atlas engine house. It is very long but can be shortened with some work. the price is great and so is the quality of the product. I would HIGHLY recommend it!

BTW welcome to the hobby!

long is fine. i probably want to keep it about a foot or less wide. does anyone have a model # or place to purchase this engine shed? i looked around on their website and only found a roundhouse kit with a very small picture. is that what you are refering to?

thanks, mike

Atlas part number - 2009001 $79.It’s a 2 stall long brick shed. See link:
