new to this forum and....

hello to all here. I am generally a wintertime train guy who has previously only gone on OGR forum. so tonight I thought I’d check out CTT. this may be a really dumb question but, are there any significant differences about this site and the other? like photos or preferences towards anything? for instance I like postwar and wondered if there’s much interest here? any thoughts at all? thanks for reading, John

I would say that if you’re into postwar as I am, you’ll find more discussion and interest here. We have our high-techies here but there’s a fair-sized population of conventional postwar operators as well.

Welcome.

Mike S.

Welcome[#welcome], I just recently joined OGR. I find more post war here, but I like both forums as I now run both.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of postwar fans here including myself. Even the high techies mostly have a soft spot for postwar lionel.

First off -------> [#welcome] to the forum!

You’ll find most of everything here. There is always good people to answer just about any question you have, Postwar or modern. The good thing about this forum is after a while, you’ll recognize and get to know just about everyone here. Its not a small forum, but its not huge either. Thats what I like about it.

Hope you have fun here,

Grayson.

welcome to the site. The OGR site seems to more more newer high dollar trains, and this one has most everything. More postwar than the other site by far.

[#welcome][#welcome] You will find lots of good folks and lots of help. When I first came to the forum, only 4 or 5 of us posting regular. Now it is busy. I find I do not answer as many technical questions as I use too. Reason being, so many guys with the answer jump right in and post. So, I do not repeat the answer. I really think it is not good to repeat an answer over and over like I have seen on some forums. Gives the impression you are posting to just be posting. There is a big difference in CTT than OGR. CTT has a Coffee Pot for BSing and getting to know each other. Come over and visit.

Welcome [#welcome] - I’m looking forward to your posting your comments, thoughts and questions. Tell us what you’re working on this Winter.

[#welcome]to DA FORUM.

Like all said before here, lots o good GIZ here to answer questions or just talk trains. Enjoy.

[#welcome] I too have PW and New stuff, LOTS of knowledge available here!!! There are some real experts on board! Don’t be a stranger, and no question is “too dumb”, I know I’ve tested that here.

Hi John.

My kids and I have a modest post war collection mixed in with some modern stuff. Hope you become a regular over here. We could use some fresh faces. If you have questions regarding toy trains, ask away.

Jim

JOHN: Just in case nobody has said it [#welcome] [(-D]

Having been a subscriber to both forums (my [2c]) this is the place.

These guys have a lot of knowledge and above all, you’ll find them only to glad to share their experiences with Post War. Again, welcome.

My turn… but I’ll link a new image! hahaha! Welcome again.

Generally more posting re AF and Standard Gauge over here than over there and more interest on this site in the trains as toys instead of semi-religious icons.

I just had an image of a train with big letters X-E-N-U along the side. Emblazoned below the operator window is “T. Cruise”.

lol

thank you all for the warm welcome. I also have TMCC modern I added to my layout last year. unfortunately I spent more time last winter chasing signal issues than running trains or scenicing. I had a prewar moment a few years ago and still love old tinplate (especially buildings, bridges and accessories. was a super O fan but went Gargraves for the radius.

I’ll probably get more into it after Christmas. too much going on now. Thanks again and talk at ya later fellas… John

The CTT and OGR Magizines complament each other as they cover differnt aspects of the hobby. The forums sometimes I post more on one and then the other, a growing American Flyer voice is here(probably been here just becomeing more vocal) Like most I have mostly postwar and modern pw style trains I do have one TMCC loco and one DCS loco, Also have some G, S, 0n30, and uncoverd some remaining HO junk that I could not part with[:D]

You might also try the forum of misfits. There is good info there and you can have some fun.

Oh yes thats at www.modeltrainjournal.com.

I’m active on both forums, and one is no “better” than the other. The difference for me is that many OGR members live in my Philadelphia metro area, and I’ve gotten to know about 12 of them personally. Joe
