New Track plan for N Scale 4x8, Work in Progress. Thoughts appreciated.

Hey, wait a minute,…isn’t this Rob’s thread?

Hey Rob, you gettin’ anything out of all of this, or are we just yackin’ up your thread?

I think you guys need a group hug[(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]
… or maybe we need a new forum topic : Chip&Phil’s track designing
… but I’ve been enjoying it and learning as you go
…on and on and…[:D][:D][:D]

Alright, alright,…that’s enough from the peanut gallery! [:D]

Hey guys.

Actually I am getting this, my bad for not looking at this post for 10 minutes! lol I’ll always come back to check my posts and reply back. How else would you know that I was reading them? Don’t want you guys to feel abandoned because then you might not answer the next 20-30 new topics I post. [:D]

You guys have been great with the help, and great designs.

I’m loving the switch with the left track going up and the right track heading down. I was thinking about that somewhere else to get a nice over under on the layout while not making the grades too steep. It’s just one of those design elements I wanted, even if it is hidden. I’ll know it’s there!

The two tracks in the middle of the town, you think that could be connected to the passing track on the right so the trains run through the town? So instead of reconnecting the passing track to the main underneath the train, have it run through the town and reconnect to the main where those two tracks are already meeting the main? The point of this is just aesthetics to see a train run through the town with little other reason.

Thanks again!
Rob

Something like this?

Couldn’t do two tracks without moving town a lot. I’ll give that a go too. Back in a minute…

( A couple of minutes later)

OK, here’s one way to do it…

And here’s another…

This uses a 30" curve leading to the turnout that splits in town. You could use flex track here and make the curve more broad, but keep it short. Then the town could move a little south again. Like this…

It’s up to you, but I think “town” might be starting to crowd in on the furniture factory a bit. Notice I’ve moved all of the buildings in town, and the factory, in almost every one of these. I don’t know, what do you think?
