Nice photos. Hope you had a good time.

Yes it really is terrific to be only a few minutes away from seeing a major RR in action. Morning hours now are pleasurable for train watching. After 11AM gets to hot. Civilized also A/Trak station has seats & 1/2 hour before the 1030AM train is due the station is opned which has AC & facilities & vending machines. The bridge has seats also. Big upgrade from other places I have been. Road trips will have to await the cooler weather to places like Hearne/Taylor/Saginaw/Flatonia/T55. I also stopped at Beaumont on my way to Austin spent a hour with zero results.

Thanks for the kudos on the pix. Right now the angle of the sun on the bridge is not so good hopefully in the fall it will be better & the pix will be brighter. If I hit a cool day I will go over to the former Katy & see what the SB action looks like [:D]

This is the time of year that if the San Antonio bound Texas Eagle is on time, you can get some nice shots of it on the bridge. Most of the rest of the year it arrives after dark.

Trust me I have tried but naturally I saw it the 1st day at the station & it was 16 minutes late arriving. The other days I took a stab a NB freight was passing over the bridge more/less at the time AT was due so I waited another 15 minutes or so & when it did not show up I left cause you could fry eggs without a grill out there. I am returning shortly to Austin & as the bridge is just a few short minutes from my sons home I will try again to catch it crossing the river. [:p]

You mentioned going to tower 55,I wouldnt waste a tank of gas on that trip if I were you…Its coverd now w/too much cluter, highway o/passes and pole sticking up everywhere…It now sits under the I 30 o/pass if you havent been there in a while,IT HAS CHANGED…The FW locals dont even go there now…I dont know when you were in Saginaw last but thats where most of the locals go now…Just thot Iwould save you a trip…Danny

Thanks for your advices[:D]

I was in Saginaw last in March 06 but did not attempt T55. I met a person at Flatonia who drew me a map of where to go to still see the trains @ T55. So when I decide to go to Saginaw again (cooler weather) I thought since I will be in FW anyway I would go per his instructions to see if his info is correct. BTW the BBQ place across the street from the Saginaw crossing is A1 in my book. [:D]

Open up this link then choose Texas March 2006 & you will locate the pix I took in Saginaw during that visit. Got lucky & saw a looooooooooong I guess NSRR trailer train being pulled by NSRR locos when I was there in March.
