New Turnout Causes a Short

Hi - having a problem adding an Atlas Super Track, code 83, turnout (all live with insulated frog) to my layout. I have 2 lines which converge on the new turnout to form a single track. There are no reverse loops involved. One of the 2 tracks I want to connect to the new turnout is a spur and runs a few feet and ends (top line below). The 2nd line, crude drawing below, has a turnout on the opposite end heading in the opposite direction of the new turnout. The newly added turnout that shorts my SuperChief is the one on the right. Do I have a polarity issue (because of the turnout on the left) and, if so, how do I correct this issue(such as gapping).

I’m doubtful that I follow you, but what you could do is remove any feeders to the spur and see if the new turnout will power the spur…that is, if it is a power routing turnout. Otherwise, you could also leave a gap just past the frog on the divering route, and then feed that spur.

I do suspect a counter-polarity problem, and it would seem, on the face of it, that your turnout is indeed a power routing one. When it is lined for the diverging route to the spur, you get a conflict between the polarity to the spur and what the turnout is wanting to provide it.
