I just bought a large supply on Peco C100 insulfrog turnouts and notice that the design is different from the old ones in that you can no longer adjust the spring tension on the point rails and that the visable hinge on the point rails is no longer visable . Before if you wanted to replace or remove the tension spring while the turnout was mounted all you had to do was bend the tabs and then slide the spring cover back toward the frog or remove it to remove the spring.

Questions!

  1. How do you on the new ones remove the spring if the turnout is mounted on your layout?

2.In your opinion what do you like or dislike with the new design?

Please excuse me for jumping in here. Yours truly recently obtained several pair of very good, used older version Peco Code 100 HO Insulfrogs. Am curious about newer version. In your honest opinion, is revised version a much better product? TTFN…Old Tom aka papasmurf in NH
