Greetings,

Here is a posting from another Newsgroup, very interesting.

Currently the #8423 is at the Wisconsin & Southern paintshop in Horicon, WI.

Nope, not C&NW

Nope, not Rio Grande

Nope, not SP/Cotton Belt or TNO&P.

Rumor has it that the UP 8423 will be painted for George H. W. Bush (President #41) and numbered “4141.”

The Presidential Library official website tells about the trip that will be powered by the loco.

This is all part of an exhibit at the library from 11-7-05 to 7-30-06 called “Train Tracks of the Iron Horse.”

Unit should be out soon–and of course be tarped when it leaves Horicon.

And we might know more about the new unit if one of you UP geniuses know if SD70M 4141 has been renumbered. Anybody have any info on it?

At least UP isn’t going to name the paint job after Reagan, considering that the Repubs want to tag his name onto almost everything.

Couple of comments:

What are they going to do with UP’s existing 4141, an SD70M?

Also, the SP Texas subsidiary was the Texas & New Orleans (no “Pacific”).

They should leave UP SD70M #4141 should stay where it’s at and they should number the Bush SD70ACe #41.

But what else is new.As modelers,people who are buying past fallen flags of the UP had better get what they want pretty fast.Seems now when ALL the locomotives of the fallen flags,that UP is painting,rumor is that the prices for such models and the like, are going to hit high prices next year.Why,UP wants the royalties of such said products.Why do you think the judge said if you are not using the logo,et -al,you have no say in such matters of trademarks and logos…gee judge, thanks for opening your big fat mouth!!! Now you just gave UP a great big opportunity / idea to do what they want to do to get MORE money.
