The pictures look good, but I want to see one coming by at 45 or 50 mph. They always look better when they’re moving.

When did the deliveries start?
I like them, but the gray paint behind the cab looks disproportionate.
And, for ALL the uglyites: Didn’t the GP-7/9 designers deliberately make them ugly? But, everybody loved them!
I don’t think they “tried” to make them ugly. It was more a form follows function sort of thing. Unlike earlier locomotives, their job was solely to be as efficient as possible. It really didn’t matter what the public thought of them.
Come to think of it, I usually hate things designed to look good. Most streamlined steam (with a few notable exceptions), UP’s M-10001, GM’s aerotrain, and pretty much anything European. Yup…hate em’ all.

they sound and smell better at 45 mph also. Joe A.
When GM sold EMD,the new owners had to sign a form stating that they would only build ugly diesels[xx(].
Joecool,
I think that’s the beauty of 'em…They look good, sound good, smell good and shake the ground. What more could you ask for!

UP always likes big engines with lots of power. Nice pix
Mehrlich, Thats the closest thing to heaven we get. Joe A.
A live shot gun with live ammo,A very large cutting torch,And a dried up grave yard in a river bed to drop those pic’s of ugly junk right where they belong[}:)].
BNSF railfan, Thats cold! You should check out the pics on this site under wrecks you might like what you see. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=68818 Joe A.
Who cares how it looks, all that matters is how it sounds. Listening to one in notch 8 pulling up a hill and shaking the earth is all that really counts in my book
OUCH! Now that looks more like it[:D].
The UP version looks better than the CSX version. CSX 70ACe 4837 came through my neighborhood a little while ago. It’s the first time I’ve seen an ACe in person. That nose is ugly!!! Once you get past the nose the rest looks pretty good. In CSX paint the nose is yellow/gold and just about everything else is dark blue, so the nose really stands out. My first thought when it came into view was that a giant bulldozer blade was coming down the tracks. It’s ugly but it sure does sound good!
It looks like a cross between EMD’s and GE’s current crop of locomotives what with that bank of inverters(?) on the conductor’s side. If I look hard enough at the side view of 8320, the cab sort of resembles the Canadian safety cab locos.[:D]
Too bad EMD didn’t keep the cab style used on the SD70Ms.
They should go back to the SD70M first cab. These new cabs are ugly, no, pug-fugly.

I think they look sharp in the UP building America Scheme almost look like the SD90Mac-H CP has 9300-9303 the EVO’s look just as nice to glad to see something different from Ac4400cw Dash-9s and sd70ms
Even not being a UP fan, I think everything in the building America paint looks great. To bad CSX could’nt find a nice flag or somthing to dress up the SD70ACe. Dark future paint looks bad on all the new stuff . Just my opinion Joe A.
Dark future on the 70macs isn’t all that bad, but the nose on the 70Ace really stands out with the gold. Ugly!
Actually, I have heard some evidence that EMD actually tried to make its roadswitchers ugly so as to direct sale toward its covered wagons. I don’t know this as truth myself, but I have heard some pretty reputable sources say as much.

Yep
