New Walthers Rib Side Caboose

The new Walthers Milwaukee Road Rib side caboose is a work of art for $35, for a die hard Milwaukee fan at least. I’m an N scaler, but a huge Milwaukee fan, so I had to pick up at least one of these for display with my Bicentennial SD40-2. It came in the mail this week, everything was packaged well and no loose parts, and the grab irons seem to be real wire. The only thing that seems to be missing is the “extra” lettering - stuff like consolidated stencils, weights, fuel oil fill, etc. - there is no data printed, just the logo and road number. Those could be added.

But all in all it looks great - may run great too.

Now if only someone would do a nice RTR version in N scale (or a nice bay window of any kind in N scale - why hasn’t Micro-Trains)?

A ‘kit’ of the rib-side caboose is available from JnJ Trains:

I just picked up 6 of the new HO rib-side cabooses. This has been a good year for Milwaukee Road modelers. I have spent so much money over the past year on Milw specific items; I have ‘rib-side fever’…

I haven’t ordered any yet but maybe next week. There is also the new Fairbanks Morse H-10-44. I’ll have to get a couple of them. I have two of the last run. I have the Milw Rd Milwaukee Depot and 2 extra train sheds and have the Twin Cities Hi on order with the Eunits. So far 4 of the cars are in my hot little hands. NICE. Of course a decade ago I decided to give up on the Milw and do a freelance iron ore road in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

As for the rib side caboose in N I’m sure that Walthers has them in the plans.
