Seems the pre orders are on ebay already! Is $399 the pre order price or the sellers?? [?]
Thanks, Al
Found them doing a search “lionel girls”.
No, I am not the one selling them…
different!
njal,
I just received the flyer advertising the sets, and $399 is the price that someone who isn’t a Williams authorized dealer pays for either set. An authorized dealer would likely get the set cheaper, and sell it for $399.
Jim
does williams publisha free catalog?
“Trains aren’t pink” True…
However, TOY trains for girls are [:I]
Thats whats on the shelf [:X]
Checked with my Williams dealer and the preorder price from him will be about $355.
I just bought the Lionel steamer version. Just my luck
If you don’t want to call it a “Girl’s set,” how about an “Easter set?” A few Bunnies. A few colored Eggs. I think it might just work. I’m not going to buy the set myself, but that GG-1 sure made me grin!
I can stomach the small steamer some how but the GG1 is where I draw the line. It’s just so wrong!!!

I just ordered two sets today!

okay, my bad. To each his own.

Not much for the pink, looks like a bottle of Pepto to me, but I may get one for my daughter.

Hey, got an idea for a new tank car, it could be the Pepto Bismol car in the same pink, now that I would buy!
dennis
I would love to know how Williams does with these two sets. Are they going to be a success or a failure? It’s interesting that both sets are the same price, yet a GG-1 sells for $139 and a small hudson sells for $250.
Jim
Dennis,
The Peptol Bismol Tank Car could like all those LIONEL Moving Liquid Tank Cars.
[:O]
The Body of the Tank Car would be clear plastic and real Peptol Bismol would be sloshing around inside when the train stops or starts.

Glad I never needed this [xx(][V][:I]
Here is a picture of an item in my collection.
Its from the second run of the girls train set.
It is the first shot casting of the loco!
This item came from the Richard Kughn CARAIL auction September 2003
Makes a great conversation piece as the engineering tag is still attached.
njal,
I learned something new today. I thought the girls set engine was simply a 2037 painted pink, did not know that they had a separate casting. as an asside, I got the Williams advertisement for the Girls trains. Have to think over this one. They said it got great reviews at York.
Dennis
My picture is from the Lionel 1991 set…
If they next came out with a pink girls Big Boy, what would they call it? [%-)]
Williams seems to do well with the Lionel Postwar reproductions. I think the GG-1 is unique enough that it should do all right also. I give Williams gold stars for keeping postwar type conventional trains available to the electric train operators. I have a few Williams locos and have never had a problem with them, tough and durable, great for the grandkids.
