About right for government workers. As more proof, Exhibit A, post office workers stashing the mail instead of delivering the mail.
It is always infuriating to hear that workers in transportation safety-related jobs are scamming the system rather than doing the work they are paid to do. Thankfully their misconduct was discovered in an investigation that DIDN’T follow a fatal accident.
Well, this short article did not address everything possible in this case. It did suggest that the reason the they were charged was perhaps because they were ordered to do inspections that they could not possibly complete in the work hours they had available. It is all too easy for management to not hire enough workers to do the required work, and threaten to fire workers when they simply do not have enough time to do the job correctly. I am sure that careful inspection of the records would find more of this in the industry. And private industry is not immune from this problem.
