Ok i have been trying to decide what scale to be working with. I have decided that o-scale will it. I have been speaking with others on the model railroader forum and have learned a lot. It’s not that i do not like the HO scale. it’s just i like the detail in o-scale.
So with all of that said i am trying to decide what set to start with in the Lionel series. Also could you leed to a site or a book that is good at showing me different layouts?
Welcome to the forum first off. I would start off with the Lionel Polar Express, because it’s the season or a New York Central Flyer set, both will come complete with track and transformer and are good quality starter sets. As far as track plans go there are a number of websites that are available including the CTT layout section or do a google search for track plans, you’ll find tons of them that way. Have fun!! [:)]
This is one of my favorites, www.thortrains.net , here you will find all kinds of layouts from the most basic up to the very complex. As well as a lot of good info.
You did not mention price so here goes. At around $250. the Lionel NYC Flyer set has an 0-8-0 steam engine with lite smoke and sound. These sets have everything you need to start a railroad.
