Newbie,again from Chicago

Hey guys,

This is my second time around with Model Railroading.First time i tore apart 2 years worth of work and havent touched anything in 5 years. Now with my kids being older we are getting into it.

Started bench work last week and its almost done.I live about 8 blocks from where the Indiana Harbor Belt goes under the Burlington Northern so i get inspiration from there.

Welcome back to the hobby and to the forum. Many of us here are back after various length “vacations” from the hobby. I was gone 25 years the last time. I am having the most fun this time around. I hope you will have as good a time. Some of us here are willing to be helpful, so keep us posted.

Welcome back. Even though you haven’t been out as long as some folks have, I’d suggest that you read up on some of the new methods and things that are available. Plan, ask questions, rethink your plans and then proceed. Getting something running will help hold the kids (and your) attention, but do it carefully so that it will operate well. Changing what you have already done is part of the hobby, so don’t be afraid of doing something simple to get started, then changing it later as your layout grows and your skills improve.

Have fun,

I hope you have learned some new things since dismantling your old layout. What are your plans for new layout? What road? Scale? DC or Digital Command Control (DCC)? Sorry if these questions seem to be obnoxious, but it would help other forum members get to know you a little better.

Again, welcome and don’t hesitate to ask specifi questions on here anytime.

Welcome back!! If You have photo’s of Your progress post them… We like pictures here!!

Not obnoxious,good questions.

1.No specific road but it will have a switching yard and some prarie scenery and maybe a small town.Present day stuff.

2.N scale.

3.I have an old MRC Prodigy(the one with the dial)Ill use that for now.

Thanks Guys.
