Newbie Here

Hello All,

I was wondering if some one could tell me how to find out some info on my collection date, worth, ext ext. Is there a book i could pick up that will tell me the worth of them kinda like you would do with baseball cards?

I’m not looking to sell but just really to learn about what i have.

Welcome to the forum Steve. You could try “Greenberg’s Pocket Price Guide”, they are available for Lionel and other makes. There is always e-Bay to try and find comperable items and see what they are going for, though not all sales are realisticly priced.

Welcome Steve!

Here’s a online resource for information on Post War (PW) items. http://www.postwarlionel.com/

I agree with Roger on the pricing. Watch the online auctions. Prices change with the wind.

David Doyle’s "Standard Catalog of Lionel Train Sets 1945-1969 is good for post war sets but nothing on accessories etc. And yes, prices are wild on Ebay but can give an indication of relative value.

Mike

I have the Doyle book, and it does cover Accessories, Engines, and Cars, as well as Sets, and paper products.

Kurt

For some reason mine has hardly anything about accessories. Sets, boxes and the things that came with the operating cars yes but things like street lights and buildings, no. I have the 2007 edition and that might account for the difference.

Mike

Yup. I have the 2004. 400 pages.
