Newbie needs SD-60 help

Hello,

I have an SD-60 Burlington Northern Engine that I pulled out of the packaging to put around the tree this Christmas and two traction tires were off the trucks. I imagine if I worked at it with the right tools, I could manage to slide them back on without taking anything apart - however, I want to remove the trucks from the engine and this seems impossible. I have removed the plastic cover but I have no idea how to pull the trucks off the frame. Also, I haven’t found anything on the web that talks about how to do this. Would anyone be willing to help? I consider myself fairly mechanically inclined, but can’t figure this one out.

What brand is it?

Lionel. Thanks for the reply.

Look for a phillips head screw near the motor as this may hold the motor to the truck assembly, take the screw out and be careful about re-assembly, taking the screw out and pulling down usually loosens the motor. Sometimes you have to take the step mounts off the truck assembly to get the traction tires to go on.

Try using a couple of bent paper clips to reinstall the traction tire. It takes some work, but it is much safer than taking apart a truck.
