Newbie question re. Proto 2000 E8/9, Item # 8707

Well not really a newbie as I’m actually a modeler of German railways (Märklin-based), but new to US prototype models.

Spurned on by a friend I recently bought a Proto 2000 E8/9, Item # 8707 on eBay and noticed that one of the numberboards was missing. Not being at all familiar with the US dealer/spare parts network I thought I’d ask what the best place to get these spare parts might be. I realize that shipping will far exceed the price of the parts…

Due to a lack of DC track I may let the engine run on my DC tram line with gentle curves, or convert at some later date…

Many thanks for your input.

Peter

What I’d suggest, is to call Walthers, the owner and producer of the Proto 2000 line. Usually, their parts and customer service is very good.

Did that and parts are on the way…

Many thanks.

p.

Did you check prototype photo’s to see if the real engine was missing the number board?

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Walthers now owns Proto 2000 so email them and see if they have parts to replace the missing one.
